TRIGGER-happy cops gun down a demonstrator in horrific scenes during protests in Bahrain yesterday.
Video footage showed the unarmed man slumping to the floor after being hit by shots to his chest.
He staggered back to his feet - to be felled by a shot to the head.
It is unclear whether the man had been hit by rubber bullets, tear gas or live ammunition - or even if he survived.
But at least six people died as police and troops crushed protests. Hundreds more were wounded.
The tiny state is the first in the Gulf to be plunged into the turmoil sweeping the Middle East Smoke billowed over the capital Manama after a tent city set up by protesters erupted in flames.
Tanks rumbled through the streets ready to smash signs of rebellion - and a 12-hour curfew from 4pm was imposed.
Merciless government forces made repeated attacks on Shia Muslims demanding an end to their "downtrodden" status under the Sunni rulers.
Cops in armoured cars fired tear gas into crowds in Pearl Square, centre of the rebellion.
Soldiers set up cordons across streets and arrested or shot at anyone who tried to cross.
The Foreign Office last night urged 7,000 Brits still in Bahrain to leave. A spokesman said: "The Government is chartering planes to supplement commercial options. These will be available tomorrow."
